Maybe some shampoo and a haircut would help. The "I haven't showered in days" look is only appealing to a small minority.

    Underrated Brad Pitt performances:

A River Runs Through It (lot of good subtle work done here)
12 Monkeys (maybe my favorite Pitt performance)
Seven Years In Tibet (this movie is not great, but I think he actually carries it)
Burn After Reading (he's better than this film as a whole)
Friends (Thanksgiving episode; showed his underrated comedic timing early on)

    Overrated Brad Pitt Performances:
    Legends of the Fall (meh)
    Moneyball (good, not great)
    Bejamin Button (meh)
The Big Short (he doesn't do anything other than put on glasses and a beard)
Fight Club (good, but not as good as Norton, who own this film and gets less credit, IMO)

    Properly rated Pitt performances:
    12 Years A Slave (good!)
    Inglourious Basterds (good.)
    Tree of Life (very good)
Ocean's 11 (perfectly cast as the cool guy)
    Snatch (good!)
Meet Joe Black (very bad; properly panned)

Good point. Probably the reason he hasn't been successful

    This has
I liked him a lot in se7en. Freeman carried it though.. Thought he was perfect for all 3 of the Oceans movies. Burn After Reading was just so bizarre....it was like, OK, we got all of these stars to say yes...and we have to put them all in because Coen's have it........fuck it.....I mean, Pitt, Clooney, McDormand, Mulroney, Malokovic, Swinton...........that's a helluva cast for a movie that wasn't all that good. His role in Basterds was my favorite though.

I thought Pitt, Freeman and Spacey played off each other perfectly. It's one of my all-time favorite movies.

I thought he was pretty underrated in Babel - which itself is pretty underrated.

If I ever get a few hours to myself again, I'd love to sit and watch Tree of Life and the Jesse James movie.

Oh, and I echo DD on his Friends guest spot. Hilarious stuff. "My two greatest enemies: Rachel Green and complex carbohydrates."

I could see where he spanked one of the kids and Angelina considers that abuse.

Depends on your perspective. Two failed marriages isn't success.

What? Nothing on his range from his two performances on Growing Pains as Carol Seaver's crush and Ben Seaver's hero rocker who screams at him when he interrupts his dressing room extramarital affair?
