I wasn't trying to prove anything although the vehemence of your responses is kinda astonishing.

I wasn't citing any rules.

I was pointing out that if you want to present yourself as a rube, hey, that's up to you.

Surprising as it may seem to you, there are standards about a bunch of things.

Not wearing checks with plaids.

Not wearing white socks with a suit.

Not wearing a baseball cap with an Armani suit.

Not belching at a dinner party.

I don't get pissed if you ignore these basic things.

I just think, "Was this guy raised in a barn?"
