I guess I'm happy for Garza, but God I hate the Rays so fucking much.

    Very true.

It was a legit walk though.

First time Tigers have been no-hit since Randy Johnson did it 10 years ago.

He was up 2-0 on Cabrera and then he came back to make it 3-2... struck him out swinging, (all three pitches were stringing strikes). Then Boesch came up, and I think the same thing happened. Up in the count, and then Boesch came back to work the count and get on base.

Also, how the F do you lose a no-hit bid on a grand slam? ESPN says that hasn't happened since 1990.

This Tigers team as currently constituted is a complete embarrassment. When Ramon Santiago is the guy you put out there because you need a pinch-hitter to avoid a no-no, you're f'ed. Even the Orioles have better options than that.

Don't know if that's a rhetorical question, but the progression was walk, catcher's interference against Upton, walk to Longoria.

Also, Hank, minor correction, that Johnson no-no was in the Kingdome 20 years ago.

Good catch. I knew it was 20, but wrote 10.

I was a little kid then, but I remember that the Big Unit was not yet in his "unhittable because he has good stuff" phase and was more in his "unhittable because he might kill a dude" phase.

But the Orioles did it on purpose. Half the Tigers lineup is in the hospital.

And isn't it time to put some asterisks by these no-hitters, since they are coming in the non-steroid era??

Pesky little bastards, aren't they, YF? Sure is annoying when an AL East team doesn't know its place and threatens the mighty Yankee Empire. :) </raysFanBoi>
