Now just imagine if he had been responsible for not only his own production, but also that of every hitter behind him. Yes, even if he didn't make it on base, pitchers were so shaken by the very THOUGHT that such a speed demon might have made it on that other guys kept getting hits.

Could somebody like that finish, oh, 16th in the voting?

Jimmy Rollins finished 47th in OBP in the National League, as a leadoff hitter.

I mean, the guy had a very good season, but really, thats a pretty damning argument against him winning it.

Yeah, but he also hit 30 HRs, went 20/20/20/20, and scored 130 runs from that same leadoff spot for most of the year.

I guess all those doubles, triples, homers, runs, RBIs and steals just can't make up for that 47th in OBP, huh?

Looks to me like he was 2nd among leadoff hitters in OPS.

/can't remember if the Marlins had Hanley Ramirez leading off

Is 47th bad for a leadoff hitter.... what's your point?

Andruw Jones had an OBP of .425. Maybe he should've hit leadoff.

Rollins is a fine choice. Holliday would've been a fine choice.

Carlos Marmol getting 10th place is an embarassing choice fueled by some bet or joke being played by a writer not taking his voting privelege seriously.
