Is this replacing a poach from The Athletic?

I don't think so. The Globe beat writer, Fluto Shinzawa, and Joe MacDonald from Boston Sports Journal were the hires for the Athletic.

Thanks. I'm curious to know why the previous writer left.

I believe Steve Conroy is still on Herald’s no 1 on the beat and this may be a replacement for Steve Harris, who passed away last February.

Im not 100% sure they want two f/t hockey writers but thats my guess.

Herald has always had two beat reporters on the four pro teams. True when I was hired as number two Pats guy in 1987 and true today.
PS: If you like hockey, this is a great job. Most knowledgeable (if demented) fan base of the four pro teams, too.

  7. "No relocation assistance offered" yikes
