If Barry Melrose can be fired in the NHL after 15 games in the first season, Herm Edwards should be fired before the 2 minute warning of the 1st half this weekend. Security should escort him off the premises, from the field.

    Obama scaring the white trash:

"Art Rooney Jr. said the brothers hope to get the deal wrapped up before a board meeting in December. Both sides want to get a deal done by then because they are worried about possible higher taxes once the Obama administration is in office."

    Last month:

Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga said Sunday no date has been set for selling up to 45 percent more of the team to Stephen Ross, but the presidential election is among the issues weighing on his decision.

That's because a Barack Obama administration is expected to mean higher capital-gains taxes.

"He wants to double the capital gains tax, or almost double it," Huizenga said. "I'd rather give it to charity than to him."

  3. Yeah, like Huizenga's bringing that cash down to the shelter next week.
    Foof.

  4. Does anybody (Steelers fans) know what is going on with Aaron Smith?
I heard he was and has been excused from last week's game (Colts) - he didn't practice most of the week - and then showed up on gameday ready to play. He was excused from paractice and the game. Apparently it is some sort of family-issue, but I hadn't read anything about it.
If there was something in the papers up there could you post a link?
Anybody in the know hear anything?

Are we sure it's charity, and not Charity?

Considering the Rooneys backed Obama and showed up at his rallies, I'm guessing they probably have a hunch about what's coming.

Cassel would be dumb to leave this year. He should sign a one-year deal with the Patriots. Brady's injury is a 12-month recovery, if everything goes right — which it hasn't. Brady should be ready to go for the opener next year. But no doubt Cassel will play the exhibition games and maybe some September contests if Brady isn't ready. It's not like the Pats wouldn't give Cassell the nod if Brady isn't 100 percent. He can manage the game. And there is no point to risk reinjury to Brady's new graft. It takes months for the screws in the new ligament to fuse to the bone so the longer he waits the better.

No, it would be smart. His stock will never be higher if he continues to play like this, and someone will need a quarterback. And if Cassel happens to tear an ACL or something like that during the preseason with the Patriots or in mop-up duty, he would regret not cashing in when he had the perfect opportunity.

To wait and sign a one-year deal with the Patriots, that would be the biggest gamble he could take. And there are far more downsides to that move than there are upsides.

    just asking, but....

are we really to believe matt cassel is going to get a mega-deal from someone after this season for doing okay in the patriots offense? i'm not so sure, although i understand all it takes is one team.

i don't know what cassel has really proven yet other than he can dink and dunk a tremendously well-coached offense pretty well.

buyer beware, i guess is all i'm sayin'. hopefully he won't be another scott mitchell.

He might not get a mega-deal, but he would get starting quarterback money, not reserve quarterback money. That would be a nice bump in pay, compared to what he would make if he stays with the Patriots as a backup. I mean, if the Texans are willing to trade two second-round picks and swap first-round picks for Matt Schaub ...

The following teams are why Matt Cassel will get rich: Lions, Chiefs, Raiders, Vikings, Bears, Bucs, 49ers, and a host of others.
People, JOE FLACCO is winning games in the NFL. SOMEBODY will pay the riches of Croesus for Cassel.

Good points. Cassell has a lot of advantages with the Pats -- including outstanding receivers and excellent protection, for the most part -- that he probably wouldn't have with whatever team might sign him, and still he hasn't been very effective throwing the ball down the field. My guess is that some desperate franchise will give him a big signing bonus only to find out he's not all that special under less than optimal conditions.
