Dare I ask if any upper-management types were included?

Any word on Todd Rosiak? A good man on the Marquette beat. My thoughts go out to everyone involved.

  4. I don't have any inside knowledge whatsoever, so I could be wrong.
But I would be surprised if Todd is among the cuts. I have to figure the core beat guys were saved, and Marquette hoops is a very important beat in that section.

That said, 17 jobs is 17 jobs, and they had to come from somewhere.
I am just sick about all this. Best wishes to all those in Milwaukee, those who were cut and those dealing with survivor's guilt. I know two of the guys there fairly well, and they're both top-notch fellas.

    Wow. Just, wow...

Makes it sound as if the JS ought to just go all-online right now...

Not that that will solve or reverse advertising difficulties, of course. But, personnel and staffing-wise, this is where the JS appears to be heading, maybe more quickly than it planned.

J-S definitely WILL NOT go online only. It has one of the best market-penetration figures in the country. Online only = out of business for most newspapers.

I'm about to call Wolski's and put up a round. Friend just texted he's on his way there.

Wolski's does not take card numbers over the phone. :(

Wish I had known about this... I'd have headed there tonight.
I just got home (just south of Milwaukee) and have to be up in six hours :(
