This position is with the department formerly known as the Data Group. A few months ago the department was renamed Statistics & Analysis to better reflect the service it provides to all platforms at ESPN.

This department is responsible for all clock, score and statistics that are on ESPN TV networks, websites, radio, mobile publishing, etc. It also delivers analysis and research. This particular department went into live production in Jan. 2007 with 42 full-timers. It is hiring another 20 full-timers, an additional newsroom manager and has an opening for a Sr. Manager.

  5. I should get this job because I have the special talent required to write hard-hitting, three-word headlines in the tiny breaking news box in the bottom right-hand corner of ESPN News.

Could I work from home or would I have to live in Bristol?

I don't doubt that the Data Group is darned important, but 62 full-timers...wow.

It is a daunting operation, no doubt. Hell, the entire place is ... so I am told. :)

Also, playthrough, I believe what was formerly the Data Group not only handles all real-time statistical information across all of ESPN's platforms, but is also compiling historical databases that would make us all cream our collective shorts.

    Hahahaha.

But seriously, piss on ESPN and their empty dollars. Lots and lots of dollars, but empty, "sports-entertainment" dollars.

Money isn't everything. Just ask the people who work there.
