    I know it applies to more than journalism, but the old copy editor in me felt a real kinship with the guy today sporting a "CTRL Z" vanity tag.

    I once showed up for the final day of the state wrestling tournament and saw that the AP guy had left behind his Tandy computer. It sat on press row all night, and no one took it.

    Still, those things were very reliable.

    Never been a big fan of "lede," no matter what the reason. I'd heard it was because Linotype was made of soft lead.

    Here's another oldie: UPI.

    And why are datelines still datelines if they no longer include dates? Shouldn't they be placelines?

    What, no love for my Elrod?

    I actually preferred LeafDesk in a lot of ways: It was slow as hell downloading, but at least you could find what you wre looking for without a "cookie check" every 10 minutes.
