    Oh God, we love hyperbole.

    Look, I'm no Pete fan. I hate the Reds, hate anything to do with the team, save for Bench (who was a great guy and spoke to me for an article a few years back). Is he a cheater and a lousy guy? Yep. But Pete didn't kill babies while wiping his ass on the American flag and summoning demons from the back of a carriage made from the bones of endangered species. To look at his playing days is a worthwhile effort — as would, in fact, Custer's Civil War years, as someone posted.

    Again, the producers never said this is Pete in his entirety. This is about Rose and his chase of the hits record, released in an anniversary year. I'm fine with that.
