I really enjoyed Pearl Jam, although my efforts to get in the VIP area were in vain. (No, I'm not a VIP, just have a friend, etc., etc.) I wound up "seeing" them from the track, where basically I could catch a glimpse of one of the video boards. Still, they sounded great.

A few notes about the show ...
    • First of all, great show of course.
    • Band of Horses opened, but I only heard two songs before they finished. They were OK, I guess.
    • It was a night of special appearances: Eddie gave a shoutout to one of the roadies who just got married. Later, sang we sang Happy Birthday to PJ's tour manager while Eddie threw fistfuls of cake into the crowd.
    • Eddie gave a shoutout to former Royal Willie Wilson. Dedicated "Given to Fly" to him while wearing a Wilson jersey.
    • Eddie brought out Thomas Young, a paralyzed Iraqi war veteran and sang "No More." The song is on the documentary "Body of War" and Eddie said Young helped him write the second verse.
    • They brought out gold-medal bobsledder Curt Tomasevicz to thump the bass on the last song (Yellow Ledbetter!!!). Curt brought out the gold medal and Eddie wore it for a bit during the song.
    • Only two gripes: No. 1 - No video screens. C'mon guys!!!! No. 2 - posters sold out too quickly. I shoulda gotten there sooner.

    1. Are they using just a barebones background and the stage?

    2. Gotta go early, get a wristband, pick up the poster after the show.

Yup, barebones video screen behind the stage with the PEARLJAM type from the new album.
