yes, memphis is beatable, because they blow at straight-up shooting. but they can run over anyone, and have apparently learned how to make FTs. they'll be tough as crap in the finals.

Does this do anything to Howland's rep?

Is he now the guy who can't get his team over the hump?

    Perennial choker?

FWIW, UCLA went up against superior talent in each of their three final four losses. i hate these guys, but they aren't putting up some '99 duke stuff out there.

Was wrong about UCLA being ok at half. The Bruins looked like their tanks were empty the second half.

There goes my pick in my bracket.

    Now, go Memphis.

Just like K and Roy were.

    Just give him time.

additionally, coach K had some final four chokes and the '90 asskicking before getting his.

Choker? Last two years the Bruins played Florida, which turned out to be two of the best teams since the end of the UCLA dynasty. And they played Memphis, which has just won the most games in a single season in NCAA history.
Three straight Final Fours nothing to sneeze at. But they just didn't have it tonight. Lots of rimmed out shots. Lots of offensive rebounds for Memphis. Love not getting the ball enough.
As a UCLA fan, yes, it's frustrating. But it's better than being a Duke fan.

The frantic pace of the first half really hurt the Bruins. They definitely ran out of gas and couldn't keep up. Had a couple of chances to get it to four but couldn't nail the three.

Howland's teams, both at Pitt and at UCLA, were very high on grit and toughness but low on polish and skill. That'll get you a few rounds into the NCAAs and give you a shot at the holy grail (and is definitely better than being all polish but no grit), but you'll need some polish too to win it all.
