NCAA press credentials and and "substantial" coverage

    I can't really say I've ever had much of a problem with our major D-I school, but then again, the women's basketball SID didn't respond when my reporter requested credentials (and he tried calling and e-mailing a few times), but immediately hooked me up when I contacted her.

    Then again, it might have been because I was the managing editor, not just a reporter...

    Here's how that phone conversation should go

    SE: I was calling to get an update on the women's lacrosse tournament credentials for my paper.

    SID: Sorry sir, we are at capacity with credentialed reporters and cannot accomadate your paper.

    SE: (pause, followed by laughter) Great joke, but seriously.
