I heard that Shane Battier thinks this is a terrible idea.

This must be why Vlade Divac left the league.

and, what would happen if the MLS tried this?

I don't think Vlade Divac will make a comeback attempt anytime soon.

EDIT: Dangit Idaho, you beat me to it! :D

Good idea, but I think they need to include fines with techs. Hit 'em in the pocket as well.

I didn't even know that they did this in international play. You would think that they'd allow it because of all the flops that go on in soccer.

In soccer, you get a yellow card for diving. I've seen games where it's been a player's second of the game, causing their ejection.

Yeah I know. It's not really the flopping but it's how they play possum. It's not flopping so I see your point.

Shit, I hope they railroad that through on the college level too.

I understand the value of possessions, but every game it seems like rather than play defense players are being taught to just run in front of a guy driving to the basket to try and take a charge.

But now they have to either get up or get off the field. It's a bit like the NFL rule where you have to miss a play if you leave the field after a play.

I think that if they're gonna' do this, they should make it an act of illegal defense which would result in a tech.
