Very happy for Chris Ballard, a finalist in profile writing for this piece. He continues to writing brilliant stuff in SI.

Tim Crothers is a finalist for this piece in ESPN the Magazine on chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi.

ESPN the Magazine was also nominated in the Single Topic Issue category for the Michael Vick issue.

I think that covers all the sports related stuff.

Obviously, also a lot of other non-sports stuff that was outstanding. Here is one of my favorites of the year, "The Man Who Sailed His House" by Michael Paterniti in GQ, which is a finalist in the feature writing category.

And Esquire's Luke Dittrich on the Joplin tornadoes.

Nothing about playing in the media round at Augusta?

The calendar probably doesn't favor those articles -- published too long ago, and not fresh in anyone's mind at nominating time.

Several good entries, Double Down. Thanks.

    The Ballard story was terrific.
