    Harang's not going anywhere.

The Reds don't need to reload. There's enough there for a solid foundation. Harang is part of that foundation. He's a young, durable, very consistent pitcher who is under contract for the next three seasons. Now, if the Mets want to part with Jose Reyes or if the Tigers want to deal Justin Verlander then I'd be happy to offer up Harang. But those two trades would be equally as absurd.

    ...700 WLW! ;D

The front office, from afar view, has got to be one goofed-up mess. They haven't been right since Jim Bowden threw that big-ass monkey wrench into the organization with his philosophy.

Yes, because a player who consistently has an OPS over .900 sure can be grating.

Reds fans - and contrary to popular belief, these people (for the most part) do not know their baseball very well - once got all hung up on the fact that Dunn didn't have a sac fly one season. What a lousy player!

What about all those Ks and the low BA?

Dunn takes way too many strikeouts with runners on 3rd (and even 2nd) and less than 2 outs. I'm talking backwards-Ks. I think that example reveals that (at least some) Reds fans understand how runs are generated, and contrary to your assertion, "know their baseball." He also continually refuses to hit the other way. His 40 homers and sub-100 RBIs can't mask those facts, and it makes other power hitters who will do those things much more valuable.

Dunn hasn't even entered his power prime yet. His flaws make him a risky guy to trade for, but hell, he's just 28. He could still mature a little at the plate, and barring injury, he'll have a ton of homers the next several years. I would keep him unless you got an offer you couldn't refuse.

And the Reds need arms badly. From the top down through the farm.

I also, like someone else just said, wonder how Josh Hamilton will react to this. Weren't he and Nerron close?

Adam Dunn is a great example of why OPS can be an overrated statistic.

Here's why Adam Dunn has worn out his welcome in Cincinnati:

    2007
    w/bases empty: .283 BA, .367 OBP, .585 SLG, 12 HR (45-159, 20 BB, 49K)
    w/ runners on: .246, .345, .548, 11, 42 RBI (31-126, 19, 49)
    w/ RISP: .214, .329, .400, 4, 25 (15-70, 13, 27)

    2006
    w/bases empty: .249, .359, .503, 23 (80-326, 55, 107)
    w/ runners on: .217, .372, .472, 17, 69 (51-235, 57, 87)
    w/ RISP: .221, .394, .529, 13, 59 (30-136, 40, 48)

You expect your big hitters to come to produce when they're up with runners on base. In Adam Dunn's case, he's more productive when there are no runners on base. He's not worth the $10 million he's getting.

Doesn't Dunn have some kind of trade kicker, either in terms of $$$ or the length of his deal, which would make dealing for him prohibitive?

there's a club option for 2008 that is voided if he's traded

Hoops: Meaning he's a free agent after the '07 season? Talk about Russian roulette. Wonder what his left-handed bat would look like hitting sixth or so in the Cleveland lineup? Then again, at what cost?

    *sigh*... fixed... brain fart

His right handed bat would look pretty shitty considering he's a lefty.
