Ray Nagin is amazing. Seriously. Just saw a news clip where I live where he's being interviewed about a year after Katrina. The guy asked what Nagin thought of the slow help from the federal gov't. His answer: "That's OK. You guys in New York still can't fix a hole in the ground."

    Jeebus. Unbelievable.

He'll be on Meet the Press on Sunday. Should be entertaining.

He's always entertaining. He's a walking, talking calamity. Good for laugh, though.

Well, it's true, isn't it? It's been five years now, and they're still fighting about what to put there.

That doesn't excuse all the corruption and stupidity he's pulled in the last year.

  7. "Corruption" in the last year? Tied directly to him?
    Specifics, please.
Oh, and he's correct on the facts.

So what's worse, the fact that the people of New Orleans re-elected Nagin, or the fact that the citizens of the United States re-elected George Walker Bush?

(And Fenian, he may be correct on the facts, but it was a tasteless shot.)

George W. Fuckin' Bush, no doubt about it.

    A disgrace.

    Nagin's a buffoon.

    Bush is the Anti-Christ.

By the way, I wasn't trying to take sides on the Bush/Nagin debate, just throwing it out there for public consumption.

Politically, in the general sense of politics, you're absolutely right.
However, there is a certain matter of "dueling anniversary pageants" that are going to play out over the next month. More people than Nagin are going to be making the comparisons.

Nagin makes remarks about NO being a chocolate city, and the voters re-elect him. Rod Blagojevich may be one of the most clueless politicians I know, and voters elected him as Illinois' governor.

It just proves that if you believe in a candidate of either party you'll drink the Kool-Aid. :)
