My Name Is Earl

    I know I'm late to the bandwagon, but what an original, hilarious and well-done show. Cracks me up every week.

    My question: Does anyone know if this show is supposed to take place in the past? Everything about the show--from the music to the characters clothing to the cinematography--is retro. This week, Earl used a pay phone, for crying out loud. Or is this just reminding us that Earl and his friends are living in a simpler place?

    Thoughts?

    Thread title reminds me of the commercial jingle:

    "My name is Geech, you know I put them on for the shocker,
    man, I love, these Blueblockers."

    So, Jaime Pressly plays trailer trash.

    Typecasting?

    This isn't a new season is it? I'll be pissed if it is because I didn't set my DVR.

    It fell into a crappy timeslot, and while i tivo'd it, i never really got into the show like i did when it was on tuesday nights.

    def well-written and fun, though.

    Crappy timeslot? It seems as if its "buzz" has only increased since the move to Thursdays.

    Thursdays up against OC is crappy.

    Doesn't seem retro to me. If you live in a blue collar (or worse) neighbourhood, there are still pay phones everywhere and usually, somebody using them.

    Yes, and when you ask people where NBC puts its signature show, the answer is Thursday night.

    I'm sure OC wins the 18-25 demo. And I'm sure Earl kicked its ass overall.

    Yes, it's a great show. No, it does not take place in the past. Yes, these folks are very blue collar. Yes, Jaime Pressly is hot.
