Did this woman die doing what she loved?

    http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/drunken-florida-man-crashed-wife-lap-killing-police-article-1.1785453

A naked South Florida man, drunk and high on weed, smashed his car into a canal while his half-naked wife was sitting on his lap, killing the woman and putting the man behind bars, police said.

  2. Covered a fatal car wreck a few years ago.
Drunk driver - getting a BJ - veered off the road into a ditch, killing the female passenger.

He went to jail, after several months of recovery in the hospital, which included reconstructive surgery on his genitalia.

Cleveland newspapers love writing that people died doing what they loved the most:

One of our own (well-known, well-liked writer) just recently lost his father to a motorcycle accident. I can't imagine what possesses people to ride those things.

Would any of us love to die, trying to meet a deadline for some newspaper or website? Happens all the time. Puts a whole new meaning to deadline.

Did you share this because of the cringe-worthy original lead?

"A couple that rides together, stays together. So goes the motorcycle couple's credo. But sometimes, they also die together."

A previous professor of mine posted this on FB a couple days ago with the heading, "Don't ever write this lead. Ever."

Another professor added, "...unless you're going to read it aloud in the movie-trailer guy voice."

    Update:

Editor's note: Although it was not John Luciew's intention, some commenters
criticized the original opening paragraph of the story as being insensitive.
The paragraph has been edited to address those concerns.

Yeah, I don't think that tweak really addresses those concerns very well.

    Yeah, whiffed again.
No feature leads on death news, chief.
