    This.

All of this NBA off season talk -- all for the same 3 or 4 teams still playing at Memorial Day.

How did that go? (Seriously. I'm curious. It's an interesting thought, particularly given the minority of fans that want to be fed a diet of transactions and analytics.)

As far as the football (college and pro) preseason goes . . .

"Barring injury, this team is capable of . . . "

It's football. There WILL be injuries. Lots of 'em. Never write one sentence suggesting there is another universe.

Could not agree more with this. Ignoring the most important fact of the sport is journalistic malpractice to the nth degree. But of course, the hot take universe, especially sports radio and social media, cannot exist on the premise "the future is unknowable."

Any baseball story between June and August 1 that contains the line, "... the Dodgers, Yankees, Angels and Red Sox are among the suitors."

Any football story that begins with, "The Dallas Cowboys ..." and does not end with "... arraignment is set for 8 a.m. Tuesday."

Any basketball story that begins with, "Lebron and the Cavaliers ..."

Any preseason college football story that begins with, "Southern Cal, UCLA and Notre Dame are again in the preseason Top 25 poll ..." regardless of where they finished the previous year or whom they have bought this year.
