What is the most important thing for a BASEBALL team to have in a playoff series?

    I've always said pitching in general. But one thing that is ALWAYS over looked is the manager and his baseball instincts.

    Two guys stick out recently to me:
    1) Leyland when he hit-and-run against the Yanks in Game 1 and lost and everyone wrote them off. But the guy never changed and kept being aggressive on the base paths because he felt/knew it would work. They made the Series.

    2) Ken Macha when he was with the A's and was forced by management to manager according to Billy Ball. The A's were robots and he just punched the buttons and ran the programs. It doesn't work. It wins regular season games, but not post-season games. You have to have instinct.
