More high school officiating hijinx.....

So, we've got the number 8 team in Class 1A girls last night.

Big girl from ranked team comes out hitting everything she looks at in the first half, scoring 25 of the 41.

Second half, other team finally started double-teaming her, but she managed to get some shots off and hit some free throws.

4 seconds left in the game; Ranked team up 69-61.

They give the girl the ball. 25 feet away from the basket. Being guarded closely.

Takes two dribbles. Now less than a second left. She attempts to shoot it, but gets fouled. Apparently, she was going for 40 or something. (Finished with 37.)

Every other official in the world would do what we did.

Swallow the whistle and get ready for the guys game.

Her father and four other idiots in the top row of the stands managed to stand up, and yell at us in unison........"YOU GUYS FUCKING SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!"

.....And this was from the winning team........ I told my partners "Shit, if they would have lost, we'd be nailed to a cross right now."

So, after we have the A.D. remove those 5 idiots from the game, he tells us that the dad of this girl recently got involved in another incident.......at a SCHOLAR'S BOWL COMPETITION.

 

least you stick to your calls ... had a game the other night where home team scores five in the final 30 seconds to tie - the last two on an inbounds steal with six seconds to play. home team then steals next inbounds near half court and, with just over a seconds left, kid manages to get off a shot that nearly goes. he's fouled as he shoots, clearly, and ref whistles, raises arm signaling the foul, just before the horn. course then for some unknown reason, comes over to the table, coach trying to figure out why his kid isn't being sent to the line, and tells the clock guy to put four minutes up for ot. huh? foul just vanished. just didn't want to decide the game, despite his officiating instincts that made him signal?

home team wins easily in ot, so nothing lost. but the game decided a home playoff game/road playoff game setup, so if they lose that's a pretty big deal.

 

COME ON!!! LONG DIVISION, DAMMIT! WE'VE TRAINED YOU ALL YOUR LIFE FOR THIS!!!!
