According to Forbes, they lost 22 million last season after losing 53 million in 2018. If they were getting propped up by luxury tax money and national deals and lost 22 million with just 811,000 attendance, what will they lose this year? The payroll difference for a full year was only going to saving a couple million. If they lose another 40 million or so, they could be in real trouble.

Marlins’ team value rises, remains lowest in MLB

    No.
There's no way the owners will accept this like it's written.
I think MLBPA know that too.
This is like hour 2 of the car buying negotiation. The car salesman (In this case, the MLB Owners) knows he's not going to sell the new car at full sticker price, but that's what he's going to present.
The car buyer (In this case, the MLBPA) knows he wants the car, and is at least willing to negotiate a little bit, but not let them all of the money.
At some point, the salesman will pull out his invoice book, show the customer the invoice and say OK. There has to be some give and take here. What does it take? This has to be done now.

    I guess shaming works sometimes.

Owners blink. Or they intended to go here all along.

One of these is certainly true.

The proposal is for a 50-to-60/game season. Not a blink.

Watch -- they will magically agree on 81

    I tend to agree.

    It'll be 82 or 80. Can't have an odd-numbered schedule.

And they probably should. A schedule of 112 games running through Halloween is too long and 50-60 isn't long enough. Meet in the middle. I suspect schedules of varying lengths have already been cranked out.

This is going to presage a shortened schedule in future years. Bank on it.

Why not? 81 is divisible by 3.

There are no ties in baseball, only the NFL.
