With two lead-off home tuns today -- Happ and Springer -- it harkens me back to 1977. A friend and I, high school juniors, ditched school to go to Dodger Stadium for Opening Day. It was Tommy Lasorda's first opening day as Dodgers manager and we bought a couple bleacher tickets from the box office.

After Frank Sinatra croaked out the national anthem, Giants OF Garry Thomasson hit Don Sutton's first pitch into the back of the right field bullpen. Sutton shut out SF the rest of the way and the Dodgers won 5-1 en route to the NL pennant.

OK, these Royals look like a playoff team. I'll check back in October.
