When you look at the full season, who belongs in the top three ahead of Arenado?

    Freeman

If you really want to ding Arenado for playing in Coors Field, maybe. Arenado was a slightly more productive hitter overall and he plays a tougher defensive position. Both are excellent defenders. At worst, it's close.

So I know they're "finalists" but the winner is already known - yes? Or is there a second vote?

No, it's like the Heisman finalists. It's just the top vote-getters.

And as much as I love Freddie Freeman, he wasn't great in the 2nd half. I'd have put deGrom in the Top 3 over Arenado.

Tommy John surgery for Lance McCullers, which means he’s out for all of 2019.

    Harper turned this down ...

Of course he did. He'll get much more.

He'd be leaving a lot of money on the table to sign 10/300. And should Harper really want a deal for 10 years? Wouldn't it work in his favor to do a 5-6 year deal and be able to get another multi-year deal at 31-32 years old β€” the tail end of his prime β€” when $30 million might be close to an average MLB salary? His agent knows how to work that math out better than I ever could, though.

It wasn't the money -- it was the lack of opt outs. He wants a 10-year deal with an opt out after five.
