It is odd how, 20 years ago, I was in a newsroom with 25 other people. All of us early twenties. All of us broke.

Facebook has kept our connections together and what is interesting.

The people who weren't very focused or planned for their stories twenty years ago appear to be hurting for money or opportunity now.

Those who were very mature back then are running newsrooms or company divisions now. Perhaps even their own companies.

Those who were ambitious but not terribly mature are often still in TV news but in larger markets and making substantially more money. This is my group.

The really hot female reporters who were single then all married wealthy guys within a few years and traded in journalism for the cushy life of society wife with the no accountability non-profit hobby job.
