Our basketball playoffs start next week. If we don't get a let-up at some point, our teams won't be able to finish the regular season.

Guess what, sports fans, we had our first ... baseball game of the season. Nearby NAIA school opened their season by getting swept in a doubleheader. Which serves them right for starting this early. Although, the big boys start in two weeks, and the preps the week after that, so I guess it isn't THAT early. And, actually, the weather wasn't horrible, for a change, with clear skies and temps in the mid-40s. Still...

The juco here was scheduled to play this weekend. Obviously, they didn't. They have two doubleheaders scheduled at home next weekend. Good luck with that. The 12 to 17 inches we had (depends on which TV station you're watching) ain't melting and we're supposed to get a few more over the course of this week.

The jucos used to have the good sense to wait until March to try to get going. I almost think Kansas jucos schedule February games knowing full well they'll have to reschedule them for mid-April in between conference games and use 6 of the really crappy freshmen pitchers and a couple of outfielders who have been begging coach to let them try their awesome knuckleball to get through the doubleheader so they can keep the good arms fresh for the conference doubleheader the next day.

Another round is hitting Oklahoma today. The entire state is under a winter storm watch.

Oklahoma is getting chokelahomed with 10-12 inches of snow, again along with Kansas and part of Missouri and Arkansas.

That's not a repeat of last week's news. It's 10-12 MORE inches. Facebook pictures on a Tulsa station show people waist deep in their back yards.

Parts of Arkansas have gotten more than 23 inches of snow in less than 12 hours.
