Michael Strahan retiring?

Here is Strahan's problem:

He is in the final year of a contrtact that willpay him opnmly about $4.5 million thi season.
Why? Because when he signed it he insisted on a large signing bonus up front and a front-loaded contract.
Now that Jeanne Strahan got a good chunk of that money, as well as the $3.2 million home in New Jersey AND spousal support... well, $4.5 mill just ain't gonna be enough for the poor little gap-tooth whiner, so he wants and extension.
He is, however, 35 years old, coming of a season that was almost completely lost to injury, and has never been viewed by Giants managemennt as the kind of leader he should have been as the star player of the defense.
So, they will pretty much say: play for $4.5 mill this year or retire..we don't care about you after this season anyway.

 

Brett Favre already gave him the single-season sack record. What more could Strahan want?

 

Money may not be an issue in the future since he supposedly is dating Eddie Murphy's ex-wife.

He would want the Giants all-time sack record. Currently he's tied with LT.

 

If he doesn't show up, can't the GIANTS go after a prorated portion of his signing bonus?

 

With the possible exception of Jeremy Shockey.

 

With the possible exception of the entire Giants team.
