"Mic" or "Mike"

I'm having a scintillating debate on what the official abbreviation for "microphone" would be and wouldn't you know it, there's not a Harbrace or an AP Style Guide in the hizzy.

Can anyone help a brother out? C'mon, join the fray!

    Just use microphone.

If that's not an option, use mic.

Hank's got it. I work on the radio and that's how we write it.

It's mike, but it should be mic.
I've had this argument with my editors, but sometimes common sense takes a backseat to AP
