Guess Larry LaRue won't be inviting any Mariners to his birthday party: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5183040

    (didn't see this elsewhere, so I don't think it's a d_b)

Larry LaRue has been the beat writer there forever. And Mike Sweeney thinks he just made it up out of thin air because nobody stood up to fight him during a meeting.

If "Ball Four" is to be believed -- and doesn't everything come back to "Ball Four"? -- Mike Sweeney's vociferous defense means he would be one of the players who spilled.

    Whoa, wait just one second.

Mike Sweeney is still playing baseball? Huh. Wouldn't have guessed.
  6. That's what baseball players (and athletes in general) do — circle the wagons, no matter the validity of the story. They'll get over it.

Sucks for Tacoma, but this story is funny. What person caught napping ever admits to sleeping?

So if Mike Sweeney wants to know who told LaRue and the chickenshits won't admit it, maybe it's time for LaRue to say fuck it and out his source(s). It can't hurt at this point.

If LaRue went that route, he would never get a scoop from any player. If you can't trust the guy, why bother going out of your way to help him?

Completely agree. Should have done it in the first place. This anonymous source crap bothers me to no end, and now the reporter is the one with egg on his face.
