    An ex-girlfriend once told me that being a woman, she could get laid any time she wanted by her choice of guys, and she didn't even have to put any effort into it. To prove the point, we went into a bar separately and she sat down at the bar alone and I watched the procession of guys... And she was smug as hell about it for weeks.

    Armed with this knowledge... I am male and in NYC. I am definitely going to legally change my sex on my birth certificate to female so I can get laid anytime I want.

    Zeke is correct.
    Sex refers to primary, physical attributes, aka gonads.
    Gender refers to secondary characteristics that are usually associated with a sex.

    New York City’s Board of Health unexpectedly withdrew a proposal yesterday that would have allowed people to alter the sex on their birth certificates without sex-change surgery.
