Pretty quick turnaround on a multimillion-dollar deal, don't you think? Almost like they were negotiating while CBC still officially held the rights ...

I'm sure they were. Unlike GMs, pretty sure that's okay

Wild. Sort of how NBC decided a few years back to use the music ABC used to open the Olympics, a tune Roone Arledge first heard on a record.

TSN will supplant CBC as the country's #1 hockey broadcaster in the next few years.

If the Mother Corp loses hockey, they might as well shut down. HNIC is the network's biggest revenue producer.

At some point someone's going to write a story about how CTV pulled this off. I'm sure there are a bunch of interesting story lines.

I'd put my money on Rick Westhead of the Toronto Star.

    Westhead is very good.
Did I hear that Stompin Tom's "Good old hockey game" would be the replacement? Please, God, No. What a dumb song to take over as the institution for Saturday nights....

"Oh the good old hockey game is the best game you can name
and the best game you can name is the good old hockey game".

Can never decide if this is a great example of circular logic or simply the most redundant chorus ever written. :D

    Please, no. Godawful

I think they should just introduce HNIC with Carmina Burana but instead of the disco version Brampton plays after the other team gets a penality, the classic one

THIS should be the new HNIC theme!
