    From what I remember, the initial acronym was planned...'Taxed Enough Already', playing on a seminal moment in (pre) American history when citizens revolted against a hated tax.

    Amazingly enough, the current "tea party" movement seemed (from numerous sources) to spark into action in the third/fourth week of Jan. 2009, also in reaction to a seminal event.

    Geeeeeee, wonder what it was.
