    You're thinking of Season 6 of The Sopranos. Season 5 was normal. But Season 6 was 21 total episodes, and Season 7 of Mad Men will total 14.

    Closer to Breaking Bad than anything. I guess they saw how the buzz about Season 5B of Breaking Bad generated ratings, and couldn't resist.
