Smokers get more breaks than non-smokers, maybe they don't want to deal with that. Or maybe its cheaper for health insurance.

I don't see it that way. I'm a puffer and I go out ONLY when I have down time. I know many others who do the same thing. I've seen guys and gals who don't smoke spend their entire shift on the internet.

It is. A lot of public agencies have told their employees to drop weight and/or quit smoking and have put in rules against tobacco users as new hires.

The day of the nicotine addict is passing by, thankfully.

I strongly suspect the non-smoker thing has to do with health insurance premiums. I've seen stories about a number of companies doing similar things.

Anyone hear anything about what they're doing?

It's not a productivity thing or a second-hand smoke thing, it's an insurance thing. The company saves money not having to insure someone who is at risk for smoking-related illnesses. It's that simple.

They're far from the only ones, although it IS a bit unusual to see a line like that included in an ad.
