Oh, no, the early part is easy. That's when you're DYING to talk to each other. But months in, you're going to have a really shitty day and just want to go hang with your boys and forget the world...and that's when you're going to have to at least talk to her to let her know that's what you're going to do. And you will want to do 18 other things rather than call her.

    Please, just call her.

I have experience in this and it was pretty good while it lasted. If you're spending hours talking on the phone, texting and so forth, the awkwardness of a meet-up will be brief. Just be cool and relax.

    Be warned though...

Getting over the LDR breakup is a different beast altogether though. I wouldn't say it's easier or harder than a standard relationship, just different.

If you want more advice PM me.

Amen to that. In my experience, it's nicer in some ways because you know you won't run into her at the movies with her new guy.

But every night before you go to bed, especially that first month, your first instinct is going to be to call her. You're going to long to hear her voice. You're going to wonder what she's doing, what she would tell you if you were still talking. You'll wonder if she's wondering about you. The phone will taunt you as it never has before. Your e-mail conversations are suddenly much slower. You don't care if anyone writes you. There's no intrigue to getting on AIM.

It's hard in that it affects every. single. way. you communicate.

MITN -- Save the post above, on the off chance it doesn't work out. If/when a breakup happens, keep all of this in mind and remember it will be OK in the end.

Ehh.. enough of the negativity (which I started). I hope the guy pulls through and has a wonderful, healthy relationship. He can worry about the crap later if it ever comes to that.
