    So don't apply.
For someone young looking to get into that line of work, it may be a good starting point. But, yeah, that's pretty low.

The good news Moddy: Even if the lucky winner is single, he or she can qualify for food stamps in Massachusetts. http://www.massresources.org/massachusetts_food_stamps_d.html

The bad news? The cost of living in Boston is 240% the national average, with apartments ranking 48% more expensive than the national average. The average rent for luxury two-bedroom apartment rentals is $1,900, and the average price for one-bedroom apartments in older buildings is around $1,000.

To be fair, the conference job may not require full-time hours. My guess is that it would probably require a lot of time for some periods, and limited time during the regular season.

However, some of the college jobs might be better for a couple of reasons. First, you can get an advanced degree and have entree to jobs that way. Second, you can move from the intern/grad assistant position to a better position.

In the past, the MASCAC gig (and similar gigs in small-school conferences) has been handled by a SID from one of the member schools. It's added income for them, without a horrible amount of additional work (and they already have a lot of the connections they need through their "day" job).

  7. That would make sense, then. $11,000 as your only job in Massachusetts is ridiculous. $11,000 as an addition to what you already make works.

I liked the 28K a year gig at S.F. State. You can't even afford to be homeless in SF for that little pay.
I think most of these gigs are intended to be year-long gigs so they open up every year about this time.
What are media relations folks going to do when there isn't as much media to relate to?

Yes, for $28k in the Bay Area, you get a ride on the Monofail.

Food and shelter, not so much.

The UAB gig should be a pretty good one. I've dealt with Norm for three+ years and he's great to work with.
