Looking for feature writer in Rockford, Ill.

This is not necessarily a sports gig, but sportswriters are among the most versatile journalists around. Small downstate Illinois-based chain upgrading a Rockford/Winnebago County (Ill.) weekly seeks writer to produce one local feature a week. Pay is $60 to $75 per story and must include a photo or photo arrangement. It's regular work and checks mailed out the same week of publication. We're looking for a self-starter with previous newspaper/magazine experience who writes cleanly, clearly and can make regular deadlines. Rockford-based writer with local knowledge and connections strongly preferred.
