Looking ahead to new fall TV season

So what are you top thoughts as the fall season approaches in about 2-3 weeks? Early impressions:

--I really don't think Jay Leno's show will make much of a dent in the 10 p.m. Eastern slot. It's a drama time slot, and I dunno whether enough of his watchers were truly Jay fans or were just used to turning on The Tonight Show before going to bed and will watch Conan but not Jay.

--The trailers for NCIS: Los Angeles are not promising. Looks like the show has none of the humor of the mothership, and if they're trying to make Linda Hunt into the Abby quirky female cipher, I foresee fail.

--ABC's Wednesday comedy lineup looks toxic.

The only show I'm looking forward to is Glee. Can't believe how many shows look like retreads - and retreads of shows that didn't even succeed the first time around. Heart transplant show, nurse show, paramedics show. All were done on cable in the last two or three years and apparently in a more interesting way. Though that ABC show Fast Forward looks interesting. NBC looks like they've cornered the market on building shows around irritating characters who we are supposed to admire.

Glee. No blood, lots of music, Broadway stars. I'm so in.

You shut your mouth. Bill Lawrence is behind Cougar Town, and Courteney Cox and Busy Phillips look smokin hot in the ads, so I'm there. And The Middle DOES look horrible, but Neil Flynn is in it. I'm to the point where I'll watch anything with a Scrubs alum.

Plus, when The Middle bombs after three weeks, Janitor can return to Scrubs II: Electric Boogaloo.

Definitely will check out "Glee". Also, saw a promo for "Modern Family" that looked good. Will also check out the medical dramas, especially "Three Rivers" which is about Pittsburgh. I believe there are a few medical dramas to choose from this season.

Gleis already programed in my DVR from the sneak preview.
The commercial for "The Middle" just looks like a "Malcom in the Middle" rehash.
Other than Glee I'm just looking forward to my Monday night CBS line, Lost and then Biggest Loser and 24 as winter approaches.

I'm hoping "Community" is good, simply because I like Joel McHale.

    Yes, Lost.

I'm a newcomer to the show awaiting Season 4 in my mailbox today.

    People still watch Lost?

  11. Glee is far and away the best looking show, new or old, for the upcoming season.

i've watched the first two episodes of glee, and my and i both enjoy it, my wife a little bit more than me. it nicely spoofs high school musical at times and the writing is solid, especially the conversations between adults and especially when the cheerleading coach (jane lynch) is in a scene. that's a great character. the writing sometimes reminds me of how you had to pay attention to arrested development to catch some of the funnies. it gets a little too campy for me at times, and i wonder if it's adult enough to hang onto adult viewers and whether it's enough of a teen show to keep younger viewers.
