I used to use Morpheus, and then my computer exploded.

If you're going to use a P2P network like the one in the OP, may I suggest using Frostwire instead? It's soooo much better.

Agree with all of the above posters on using Acquisition if you own a Mac. I also recently bought a MacBook and its much better than anything I ever used in Windows. Other than, of course, the original free Napster.

With Limewire, same thing happened to me where I kept getting re-routed to an alternate site (I have a MAC). I just went to the limewire website and downloaded the newest edition. It's worked ever since, though I've noticed if my search results in too many hits, it stalls when I try to download. Not sure if that's a download flaw or just my laptop.

Bearshare already settled with the RIAA and I've heard nothing good about it since.

Limewire will end up the same way.

I had no problem on Limewire today when I downloaded a Beatles song I had had pimped to me.

Couple weeks later update: Limewire still doesn't work for me, even after upgrading the software. I've also tried using eMule and nothing seems to download on it -- and I checked the port settings to make sure the ports were open, etc.

I went through my Beatles phase in college. I have every song on my iPod... Can't imagine discovering the Beatles now. So I'm curious, what was the song?

If you've got a Mac, peep a program called Drumbeat. I'm not sure if it's still around. I used to use a free trial of it, and the 30 days never ticked down so it wasn't really like a trial. It was better than Limewire ever has been, even though that's what I use now on my laptop and desktop.
