Here's my prediction I bet that Drew Carey fills the slot. As an April Fools
joke he and Ferguson switched shows the other night. Carey seemed like a
natural. Seems like a comedian would strive more to be on late night tv
    than The Price is Right

His band that plays baseball songs is appearing on tonight's show, he tweeted it out as Letterman announced it.

Here's the segment when he announced. The audience couldn't tell if he was kidding or not.

    Good God, no.

    Conan or Stewart.

My guess is the host will end up being younger than Fallon, Myers or Kimmel - yeah CBS skews old, but bringing in someone who doesn't have a previous show they have to live up to would give them more leeway.
I'd try and find the next Conan O'Brien. A great comedy writer with some performing skills.

I just can't believe that Conan or anyone like him is considered a possible answer to this question.

Seems like someone tried that one before.

Jay Leno fits perfectly with their demos and network strategy.

I'd put the chances of Conan getting the show at about the same odds as Magic Johnson or Chevy Chase. No one watched him on the Tonight Show and no one watches his TBS show.

I bet they make a run at Stewart. I'm sure he would have jumped at it years ago, but I have no idea if he'd want it now.

Ferguson would be a very bad fit in that slot, and I feel like I'm one of the bigger Ferguson fans around. Way too quirky for mainstream.

Letterman's coasting became that much more obvious with Fallon and Kimmell as straight up competition. They're both very energetic and creative where Letterman is tired these days. He always compared much more positively to Leno.

I don't think Stewart is a real option. He may be popular on this board, but he's not nearly as popular among the Fox News crowd. How good is he if you make him tone down the politics? Colbert is somewhat similar. I think he's funnier (even if I like The Daily Show more) but his shtick as-is is too political to make it on CBS. He'd need to seriously retool the character. Again, I like them both, I just don't know how well their shows translate.

I hear Alan Thicke is available.
