I pitched this book idea around 2000 about Mr. Carrier, the history of air-conditioning and how it changed urban development in the South.

I figured since 2002 was the centennial, there was a pretty good hook.

The big brains that I worked with at the time never got it.

 

Air conditioning is the surest proof of the existence of a benign God.

 

If anyone deserved to have a dome full of obnoxious drunks named after him, it was this guy.
