Giving up "eating like shit."

Or as my fiancee said I'm going to be "eating healthy for 40 days."

 

i met mrs. shockey on feb. 19, 1986. that night, on our first date, she mentioned that -- with no prospects in sight -- she had just given up sex for lent.

um, it didn't happen that night, but let's just say she didn't make it through. ;D ;D ;D

 

I take it you had a Good Friday that Lent, eh?

I guess you can say Christ wasn't the only one who was buried and rose three days later.

Yep. It's a 40-day fast, or a fast 40 days. I forget which.

 

Gave up pop a couple of years ago. Really hard, but I got through it.

I'm going to try to give up swearing this year. Don't know if it will work, but we'll see. The thing I find the hardest to do is remember to not eat meat - it seems like every Friday, I'll make myself a turkey sandwich and then remember as I put on the mustard. D'oh! I just wrote those days off though, accepted the loss and ate the sandwich. Usually I bat .500 on Fridays.

 

Fuck that fucking shit.

 

I've decided that for Lent, I'm giving up.

I'm going to eat healthy, but my concrete give-something-up item is candy. I'm not Catholic, but I like the idea of introducing a little discipline in my life.
