He had 750+ carries over a two-year period. He hasn't been the same since, other than remaining an asswipe.

Larry Johnson is a career loser.

Sure am glad Jerry Jones' knack for grabbing star names off trash heaps is gone. Meanwhile, KC's problems go way beyond whether they kept Larry Johnson or not.

Disagree. If you're trying to build a team, and to a greater extent a winning culture, you don't keep trash on the roster just to spite them.

You do if you want to show that discipline is going to be part of that winning culture.

If this were the first time Johnson had done something stupid, that's one thing. This fool has a track record. He's not changing, regardless of how much you try to discipline him. You don't want him sticking around making others miserable, or worse, rubbing off on others.

Any player who is enough of an idiot to let Johnson rub off on him will not be part of that winning culture. And it isn't about changing Johnson. It is about showing players they will not get their way by acting like assholes.

I'd rather send the message that if you're an asshole, you go elsewhere. Getting in a pissing match isn't going to prove anything. It's just going to leave a lot of piss to clean up

It's not a pissing match. It goes like this. "Larry, you're inactive this week. Now shut up if you want to keep getting paychecks. Disrupt this team and we will suspend you without pay. End of story."

Running backs are so dime-a-dozen (the Broncos' stream of 1,000-yard rushers is proof of that). Johnson should have been gone long ago.

The only problem with that is 1. Chances are he is disruptive, 2. Good luck trying to suspend him without pay, that creates even more of a circus atmosphere around the team and you may legally have a hard time following through, 3. There is no end of story. The only way the story ends is to do what the Chiefs did today.

Nothing is more disruptive than showing your players that they can get their way by acting like an ass.
