Sooner than later, please. My collection is much deeper since your last recommendations for a true hip-hop library.

Wasn't the guy the victim of a home invasion? I can't recall the details of the story, but some guy broke into Francis' house, forcded him into homoerotic poses, photographed or videotaped the proceedings, and then tried to blackmail Francis.
    Am I remembering that correctly?

You don't have to recall the details if you read the story.

You want a true hip-hop library?

Go buy some Erik B. and Rakim "Paid in Full" and behold the baddest rapper of all time.

Then go buy Rakim's "The Master" after he went solo for another treat.

You won't be disappointed, my friend. Start with the best.

Public Enemy circa '86-'90 is great. So is Boogie Down Productions and Kool Moe Dee and early L.L. Cool J and Run DMC and MC Lyte and EPMD and many others.

    The Master was wack.
    18th Letter was straight, though.
At this point in time, there's enough good greatest hits collections to go out and get, for people who aren't trying to build a collection: Rakim, Gang Starr, LL, Run DMC, Big Danny Kane, EPMD, Kool G Rap, the Tribe anthology..

    1) The Master is wack? No bloody way. It's not Follow the Leader or Paid in Full or his song from New Jack City (The Ledge?), but it's a damn fine collection of music, and I'd put the song "Up Lift" against any in his collection.

    2) I agree with Big Daddy Kane, Gang Starr, Kool G Rap and A Tribe Called Quest.

    3) Don't forget about Stetsosonic.

yeah, man. that shit was pretty much balls, considering what Rakim is capable of and considering that the album before it had Premo, Pete Rock and Clark Kent production.
    no replay value at all.
