Ex-Press Club president denies rigging awards
    Associated Press

The former Press Club of Dallas president accused in a lawsuit of rigging several prestigious journalism competitions denied the allegations in court papers filed Monday in district court.

Former press club President Elizabeth Albanese requests that the court impose sanctions against the club for bringing "claims that are groundless and brought in bad faith ... for the purpose of harassment."

Her response also alleges that any injury or damage to the club was caused by its own negligence. Her lawyer declined to comment.

A lawsuit filed in April by the press club and the Press Club of Dallas Foundation accuses Ms. Albanese of "dishonest and fraudulent activity" during her association with the organization, particularly during her tenure as president from August 2005 until March 2007.

At the center of the case is the question of whether she rigged the Katie Awards, a contest for journalists and communications professionals in Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

I don't know what the point of the lawsuit is. Is the press club suing her to get its reputation back? Methinks that ship pulled out of the harbor long ago.

Even Boots would say he made a cursory attempt at trying to find a previous thread... he wouldn't but he'd at least say it.

"If you'd only monitored me more closely, I never could have rigged the contests."
