Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista boycotting Sportsnet | Toronto Star

    Quick recap:
    • Rogers Communications is majority owner (perhaps only owner) of the Toronto Blue Jays. All Jays' games are exclusively broadcast on Rogers Sportsnet (TV) and a network of Rogers radio stations.
    • In May, Rogers Sportsnet did a piece profiling rookie 2B Devon Travis. It was more of a lifestyle piece, they followed him around to a tailor in Toronto where he threw down some decent coin on a suit/shirt/shoes.
    • I guess Travis wanted Sportsnet to pay for the threads, as he likely felt he had to buy them for the piece. Sportsnet refused.
    • Baustista caught wind of this and hasn't done interviews for Rogers since. He has been doing TV stuff for other broadcasters.
    Thoughts?

Well, you know what this guy would say about Sportsnet paying for the suit.

At least Bautista allows Rogers reporters to be around while talking to other media outlets. I remember when Brad Penny was mad at a couple of reporters several years ago. He would not talk to anyone if either of those reporters were in the group. Once they left the area or were out of earshot, he would go ahead and talk to the other reporters.
