    I think it's interesting that Benito Santiago only got one vote. I'm not saying he's anywhere close to HOF worthy, but he's another guy who you could vote for without being ridiculed.

    Right, but I think that people develop expectations out of each subcategory in the .300/.400/.500 line.

    Of course, some people don't develop statistical expectations. They consider those stats, along with HR, RBI, etc., and add personal observation (You know, HUMAN factor).
    It's never just about statistical benchmarks, as some would have us believe.

    I know you put "human" in big capital letters because you think I'm this big stat "geek" who thinks that robots play baseball on computers.

    And some people use vague terms like "HUMAN" to try to hide from the fact that their cherished personal observations are often provably wrong.

    Only if you consider VORP, WAR, etc, as proof.

    I don't.

    Nor do I consider a walk being worth "about .6 or .7" of a single to be worthwhile.
