Which is why they're moving, as we speak, to reinstall a coach with a 68-67-4 career record, NCAA probation, and a massive lawsuit against the university, into complete control of the athletic program.

If Michigan State really were committed to winning, it'd wait until Saban quits in Miami. Oh, wait, he's gonna go to the U.

You're talking about the guy who is currently 1-6, aren't you?? :D :D

The guy, who in three fleabag-level bowl games at MSU, got outscored 139-46??

THAT guy?? ;) ;D

When will the SID let you know?

Yeah. I also seem to recall something about him winning a national championship at some SEC school. LSU, maybe? :D

Hey, he's better than most of the options out there. And MSU, if it really gave a shit, has the resources and piss-poor academics to be a top-10 program. Just don't let Perles or Mandarich's steroids get within sniffing distance.

Take a look at his website and the depth of the football news on there.
    http://departments.weber.edu/athletics/Football/default.htm
Notice any updates other than the two sentence article on the team's most recent game? Notice any news on the head coach that was suspended by the conference for the game this Saturday? Notice how the team then gets virtually no attention by the local media?

Shit, Saban could coach anywhere he wants on the college level and command top dollar.

If by that you mean that Zook is recruiting players who Illinois has no business getting -- like beating Ohio State for Juice Williams -- and playing a Top 25 Wisconsin team very tough, then yes, Zook's true colors have been revealed. That team is still playing hard for him and he is bringing in some very good talent. Illinois is a team on the rise.

While Herbie knows all too well that TOSU is willing to do whatever it takes, by whatever means necessary, no matter how shady or borderline in regard to NCAA rules, to win.

And Idaho, you're right that Ron McBride ain't doing to hot at Weber. But his suspension for mild criticism of Big Sky officials (who are Pac-10/WAC/MWC wannabes or rejects, and that's a scary thing if you're a coach) was ridiculous.

The Big Sky Conference is a joke.

McBride has quietly and off the record hinted he'll probably retire for good after 2007 season is over. He's done a poor job this year with his coaching staff and the team is hurt by some injuries and lost starters from 2005. But he's getting old and some people around the program say he's losing it upstairs.

I like him a lot, though, because he is open, honest with his feelings and a fun guy to cover. But his time has past.

I'd love it if JLS came home to put a small program on fire as his parting legacy.

Nice try, Micro. Not an OSU fan, but if you looked back at the past 20 years, I'd bet MSU has more football violations than OSU.
