Didn't see a thread on it, but Hawk Harrelson was on Boston radio Friday and said, and I'm paraphrasing, that the White Sox have "maybe the best third baseman in the last 50 years in Joe Crede."

I know Hawk is the King of all Homers, but this is ridiculous. He's not even top 10 in baseball now. I love Hawk's home run call (one of the few who do), but the Crede statement made me want to puke.

He's top 10 this season but not last 50 years.

I'd rather have about 10 other guys...this year. That list includes Brandon Inge.

Hawk's statement is ridiculous, but to say Crede isn't one of the 10 best current fielding third basemen is ridiculous. The guy can flat-out pick it.
  5. Heard it in real time. Yelled, "Mike Schmidt!" and then drove off the road.

Crede's 11th in BA, ninth in slugging, sixth in HRs, ninth in RBIs, 10th in runs scored and 14th in OPS.

    George Brett
    Brooks Robinson
    Pete Rose
    Alex Rodriguez
    Brook Jacoby
    Graig Nettles
    Eric Chavez
    Scott Rolen
    Miguel Cabrera
    Terry Pendleton
    Bobby Bonilla

All off the top of my head. All better than Joe Crede, whose lifetime OBP before this season was .303.

I'm just saying Crede is top 10 right now.
Only an idiot would say he's top 10 over the past 50 years. That's just crazy.

Brooks Robinson's 16 Gold Gloves are still the most of any position player.

And Schmidt's 10 Gold Gloves to go with 548 home runs shows he's a rare breed: A top-notch slugger who is as good as anybody in the field.

    Crede's not even close.

Hawk going overboard when talking about the White Sox?
    No Way.

The only thing Hawk Harrelson is good for is that he rips on Jay Mariotti.

Hell, he's not even the WHITE SOX best 3B of the last 50 years. Robin Ventura, anyone?
